Society of Certified Senior Advisors
Our Mission
SCSA educates professionals to work more effectively with their senior clients. We
believe that the right kind of planning, recommendations and referrals can make
aging a state to be savored instead of a fate to be feared. For those who work with
seniors, that means understanding the key health, social and financial factors that
are important to seniors—and how these factors work together. CSAs are able to
integrate this knowledge into their professional practices, no matter what field
they’re in. They’ve learned how incredibly gratifying it is to help seniors achieve
their goals, and the seniors they’ve worked with have learned how important it is
to work with someone who truly understands their age-related circumstances.
Our History
In 1997, Ed Pittock, president of SCSA, gathered experts in all facets of aging,
including doctors, attorneys, gerontologists, accountants, financial planners. All
shared Ed’s vision: that seniors would benefit from an in-depth, standardized
education for the professionals who work with them. The education program that
this group of renowned experts created became the basis for the Certified Senior
Advisor (CSA)® designation.
The Value of Our Education
The education that SCSA delivers is unique—to our knowledge, it is the only program
that teaches an integrated approach to the health, financial, and social aspects of
aging, with its focus on people, not products. Professionals from many walks of life
have added the CSA designation to their credentials, and have integrated the CSA
education into their professional practices—to the benefit of their senior clients
and themselves.
These days, professionals can choose to pursue dozens of credentials from dozens of
organizations. Some of these organizations don’t require their designees to live up
to a code of ethics. We do.
Some of these organizations excuse designees from continuing to learn and from giving
back to the community. We don't.
Those are just two of the many reasons that some 14,000 professionals have become
CSAs…and why Society of Certified Senior Advisors is the fastest-growing credentialing
organization of its kind.
