The CSA Exam

If you are seeking the CSA designation, you must pass the CSA exam. The CSA exam is available with the Course and Exam Package the CSA Exam Only options.

The CSA exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions. The passing score is 70% or more correct answers. You have up to three hours to complete all questions. The exam is closed book and proctored. Candidates who purchase the classroom version of the CSA Course and Exam package take the exam in class on the fourth day. Those who purchase the self-study version of the CSA Course (including Fast Start), or the CSA Exam only, take the CSA Exam at a professional CBT test center in their state.

Test Results

Candidates who take their exam, re-test or deferred exam at a professional test center receive their test result immediately online. Classroom students receive their exam results by e-mail within 7 – 10 business days of their exam date.

You will be able to schedule your exam at your convenience during a test center’s regular business hours. SCSA will provide you with instructions for how to register for your CSA exam.

Re-Test

You have two re-test opportunities. Re-tests are given at a professional test center as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). There is an additional fee of $85 for each re-test. You must wait at least 6 weeks before re-taking the test, starting with your original CSA exam date.

Deferred Exam

Classroom students may defer the exam and take it at a professional CBT test center in their state. There is no additional fee for a deferred exam and no waiting period. You may take your deferred exam at time that is convenient for you.

Professional CE is available for successfully completing the CSA Course and Exam Package.
