Working with Seniors: Health, Financial, and Social Issues
Chapter 2: Trends in Aging
The interaction of aging and society is a complex two-way exchange. Society influences the individual and the individual influences society.
Also, while aging is a personal experience, we can observe and identify general patterns in aging and adult development. This chapter explores some of the most visible aspects of aging in our society, including ageism, age discrimination in employment, retirement, seniors’ activities and role changes in later life, crime against seniors and elder abuse.
