Course Format Options

Pick the one best for you

You can complete the CSA Education Course one of 3 ways, all of which help prepare you for the CSA Designation exam.

Option 1: Live Course - Choose the live class of the CSA Course, if you prefer to...
  • Experience lively interaction among instructors and classmates in a stimulating learning environment at one of our 3½ day class review sessions, held across the country.
  • Receive face-to-face instruction from faculty members
  • Participate in experiential demonstrations of the aging experience
  • Network with new people in and outside your area of professional expertise
  • Take a closed-book, proctored exam in class
Option 2: Web Class - Choose web class, if you prefer to...
  • Save on travel costs and time
  • Experience high quality education delivered by expert faculty in the ease and comfort of your home or office
  • Learn with people all across the country in a virtual classroom
  • Ask questions of CSA faculty in the chat room and hear their answers live
  • Prepare for the CSA exam through the online study session immediately following each presentation (supplements your individual study)
  • Access recorded sessions during the entire twelve week course period to help your study and review the material as many times as you wish
System Requirements

To participate fully in the Web Class and use the Chat Room (for the 3 live events), your computer must have:
  • Internet Explorer 300 MHZ or faster
  • Windows 200 or XP or Vista
  • Java to use the chat room
  • DSL or faster Internet connection
  • Speakers
Option 3: Self-Study Class - Choose self-study, if you prefer to...
  • Stay at home rather than travel
  • Review materials multiple times over a longer period
  • Study at your own pace
  • Take a closed-book, proctored exam at a professional test center
  • Study when it’s most convenient for you
CDs with Video: You’ll have the same high quality instructors as in the CSA classroom – videotaped as they lectured during CSA classes, then recorded on a set of CDs with their individual PowerPoint presentations. You can follow along with each topic just as if you were sitting in the classroom.

*Candidates should plan on investing an average of at least 30-35 hours of independent study in addition
Option 4: CSA Exam Only

If you already meet the education and/or experience requirements to designate, you may choose to purchase the CSA Exam Only option.

Class Pre-Study

Students who enroll in the live class or web class option should plan on investing an average of at least 30-35 hours of independent study in addition to attending the web class review. Using the workbook with the textbook is also strongly encouraged.
