Education Expense is Now Tax Deductible

The Society of Certified Senior Advisors (SCSA) education program is now available for tax deduction! Due to our NCCA accreditation, the Certified Senior Advisor course qualifies for a tax deductible plan when certain criterion is met.

Topic 513 (www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc513.html) allows extended educational expenses to be tax deductible. In order to utilize the exemption the tuition fees must be for maintaining or improving job performance, serving the purpose or requirement of an employer, and/or maintaining that the continued education expense is not part of a program for a new trade or business.

SCSA offers specialized training and certification to professionals working with senior citizens enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the health, social and financial issues that seniors face. Our course is offered in a variety of formats; online course, for the visual learner with limited time, live courses for the interactive learning style, and self study courses for the busy professional that likes to take their classroom-on-the-go.

An independent survey revealed that 81% of Certified Senior Advisors have said that the CSA designation increased their business earnings. ABOUT SCSA. SCSA was established in 1997 to enhance education and standards among professionals working with senior citizens. SCSA’s mission is to educate professionals to work more effectively with their senior clients. We believe that the right kind of planning, recommendations and referrals can make aging a state to be savored instead of a fate to fear. For those who work with seniors, this means understanding the key health, social and financial factors that are important to seniors—and how these factors work together. CSAs are able to integrate this into their professional practices, no matter what field they’re in. They’ve learned how incredibly gratifying it is to help seniors achieve their goals, and the seniors they’ve worked with have learned how important it is to work with someone who truly understands their age-related circumstances.
