Medicare Insurance Guides and Handouts offered by SCSA

According to the Medicare Advantage fact sheet published by Kaiser family foundation, “in 2010, the average Medicare beneficiary will have the option to choose from among 33 Medicare advantage plans in addition to the traditional Medicare program, and some can choose from as many as 73 Medicare Advantage plans.” WSJ.com reports that, “rules for enrolling in Medicare are complex. But when people postpone retirement past age 65, as many people are doing these days, it's easy to get caught up in red tape.” With so many choices of Medicare insurance to choose from, and restrictions on when a senior is able to enroll, it is not surprising that there are so many questions and confusion surrounding this issue.

The Society of Certified Senior Advisors (SCSA) recognizes the confusion surrounding Medicare insurance and has created comprehensive handouts to educate older adults on Medicare insurance program and its changes in 2010. These handouts cover topics, such as:

  • Different Parts of Medicare A, Medicare B, Medicare C and Medicare Part D Coverage
  • Two Main Choices on Medicare Coverage and Steps to Decide
  • Enrollment Coverage and Costs Overview
  • Part D Coverage Example
  • Medicare Contact List
  • And a Medicare Case Study

The handouts are a part of a monthly educational program that SCSA provides to their Certified Senior Advisors. In addition to these helpful aides, SCSA also offered a Medicare Webinar, PowerPoint presentation with presenter’s script and additional handouts on other pertinent topics, such as:

  • What Medigap Plans A through L Cover
  • Questions to Ask Insurance Companies that sell Medigap Policies
  • Conversations with Seniors Tip Sheet

SCSA, in its 13 year history, is dedicated to helping senior citizens through educating professionals who work with them. The informative and educational handouts, webinars, and PowerPoint presentations are all examples of this continued commitment.

ABOUT SCSA. SCSA was established in 1997 to enhance education and standards among professionals working with senior citizens. SCSA’s mission is to educate professionals to work more effectively with their senior clients. We believe that the right kind of planning, recommendations and referrals can make aging a state to be savored instead of a fate to fear. For those who work with seniors, this means understanding the key health, social and financial factors that are important to seniors—and how these factors work together. CSAs are able to integrate this into their professional practices, no matter what field they’re in. They’ve learned how incredibly gratifying it is to help seniors achieve their goals, and the seniors they’ve worked with have learned how important it is to work with someone who truly understands their age-related circumstances.
